Feet are one of the most neglected and abused parts of our bodies. We squeeze them into uncomfortable shoes, stand on them for endless hours on the job, and give them a workout with sports and exercise.  Studies show that 75 percent of Canadians will experience foot problems at some point in their lives.

Your feet, like other parts of your body, require specialized care. A Chiropodist can assist you with optimizing your total health by providing the best care for your feet including routine preventive footcare and foot assessments.

What is a Chiropodist?

Chiropodists are strictly regulated and licensed specialists who are members of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario and are exclusively trained in all aspects of foot health.

Chiropodists are able to provide treatment plans for conditions relating to foot, heel, ankle, knee, hip, and back pain caused by structural foot problems.  In addition, Chiropodists will provide treatments for ingrown nails, corns, callus and plantar warts, wound care, thick/fungal nails, routine nail care, athlete’s foot and education on proper footwear including custom orthotics.

At the Oakville Hospital Footcare and Orthotic Centre, our Chiropodists have been helping children, adults and seniors with a variety of foot problems since 1987.  Early and regular foot assessments are an integral part of optimal foot health and the prevention of various foot problems.

May is National Foot Health Month. Don’t suffer needlessly; celebrate your feet during foot health month and book an appointment to see a Chiropodist and start walking your way to better health.
